Clayton Rogers, originally from Memphis, Tennessee, graduated from Princeton University in 1985 with an A.B. in architecture.  Back in Memphis he worked for a variety of local architects, including Carl Awsumb Architect, Mockbee, Coker, Howorth, and Williamson, Haizlip + Pounders.  He also did work in historic preservation, renovated houses, and designed and built cabinetry.

After earning his Masters of Architecture from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2001, he and his wife and daughter moved up to the Cumberland Plateau to Sewanee, just up the road from his family’s summer cottage in the century-old Monteagle Assembly.  The next year he started Clayton Rogers Architect, specializing in custom, regionally appropriate houses.
